Adweek Launches Social Media Web Effort

NEW YORK – (February 11, 2009) AdweekMedia announced the launch of its new and improved social networking website, AdweekMedia Connect. Previously entitled At The Roundtable, AdweekMedia Connect will compliment AdweekMedia’s expert news and information by giving users a targeted social network to share best practices, discuss news items and connect with power players within the media industry.

New features on AdweekMedia Connect include AdweekMedia widgets like Barbara Lippert’s Adweek Critiques, Programming Insider and Editor & Publisher podcasts and AdweekMedia news feeds. By joining AdweekMedia Connect, members will receive discounts on AdweekMedia events and subscriptions, view Nielsen’s Consumer Insights before the general public as well as interact with AdweekMedia editors by answering their ‘Questions of the Week.’ Members can even upload personal articles for potential inclusion on Adweek.com, Brandweek.com or Mediaweek.com and have the chance to qualify to be published in their print counterparts.

“In today’s media marketplace, social networking has become indispensable for every industry professional,” said Sabrina Crow, Senior Vice President of Nielsen Business Media’s Marketing, Media and Visual Arts Group, which includes AdweekMedia. “AdweekMedia understands that social and business synergy is imperative in today’s economy, and that insiders need to maximize their relationships not only in the office, but also through online social networks like AdweekMedia Connect.”

Grounded in the editorial and news-gathering excellence of Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek and Editor and Publisher brands, AdweekMedia Connect is one of the few social networks dedicated to media, marketing and agency professionals.  The network provides a meeting place for account managers, brand managers, planners and creatives.

Each member of AdweekMedia Connect has a private inbox (where other users can leave messages or introduce themselves), a members-only contact list and a chance to join targeted industry groups. Registration for the site is free and requires a valid email address.
