I edit BrandlandUSA where a number of readers have complained about the discontinued brand. I wish I had a better answer for the fans out there for a substitute product.

Is it possible that you have a reunion of the Derby Tamales? I'd be happy to buy a few cases and I'm sure many other people will too.
O can't believe it either. I grew up from the 50s eating them.
YES, DERBY WAS THE BEST! HORSMELL SUCKS, CLOSEST I CAN FIND ARE LA PREFERIDA IN A CAN. IN THE SPANISH ISLE.

I AM 65 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN ENJOYING DERBY TAMALES FOR OVER 50 YEARS. WHEN I WAS PREGNANT WITH MY 1ST DAUGHTER IN 1967 I CRAVED DERBY BRAND TAMALES OVER FRIED POTATOES SMOTHERED WITH ONIONS AND GREEN PEPERS AND ATE THEM ALMOST EVERY DAY. I JUST POURED THE CONTANTS OF THE WHOLE JAR OVER THE COOKED SMOTHERED POTATOES, PULLED THE PAPER OFF THE TAMALES(OFCOURSE) AND SIMMERED THE TOMALES IN THE SKILLET. WHEN DONE I PUT ALL OF THE POTATOES AND TAMALES ON A PLATE, SQUIRTED SOME BROOKS TANGY KETCHUP ON TOP AND ATE EVERY DELICIOUS DROP. I STILL EAT THIS DISH ATLEAST TWICE A MONTH BUT HAVE TO USE A DIFFERENT BRAND OF (CANNED) TAMALES AND IT JUST DOES NOT TASTE THE SAME. 🙁 🙁 :((!
Damn you ConAgra! Derby Tamales were in a league of their own and the other vendors Tamales that are widely available just aren't worth buying.

i am very very sad to hear about DERBY tamales.my mother always had them for us it was a treat because there was 9 children.i myself loved them which all my children did also which there is 6 children and there children did too. look at all the business you have lost.we are all waiting for you to bring them back no other will do.

I loved those tamales. Hormel are terrible! I know many other people here who miss them and loved them. If its bottom line or packaging that got them discontinued, just change to better packaging (ie. clear plastic). Bring them back please!

I don't understand why good brands like the Derby tamales are stopped being produced because some "bean counter" at Conagra has determined them not to be popular. They just want to sell cheap, tasteless, dry tamales and expect us to buy them. Well, they can't make me spend my hard earned money for brands that I don't like.
just ate a plate full of hormel… the taste is bad, they bend and break them in packaging… better than no tamales at all but REALLY MISSING DERBYS!!!
We have always loved Derby tamales. Used them as a quick supper. Nothing else is like them. Please bring them back.

Big companies look at bottom line, They are getting rid of all products that were good. Cheap is not always the best. BRING THEM BACK. We still pay for good products. Double the Price. OK

I had Derby Tamales growing up and treated myself to them every Birthday and in between – I really liked them. Con Agra you need to get them back before my next birthday. 6/3rd –

I remember Saturday lunches with my family growing up and it was a real treat when we had Derby Tamales!!!! That was 45 years ago and I had been buying them ever since for my family.

I cannot believe that ConAgra has discontinued the Derby tamales…what are they thinking? I have eaten them all my life, had a taste for them today, went to three stores…none to be found!
Derby tamales are GREAT, the canned ones (Hormel) taste like a mix of used kitty litter and axle grease
