People: Wella Hires Dineen, Costa and Pursel

GENEVA – There are new executive leadership hires at the international hairstyling firm Wella Company. These hires include:

  • Virginie Costa joins Wella Company as Global Chief Financial Officer. She was Chief Financial and Operations Officer for Burberry Americas and CFO and COO of Hermes in France and Americas. Most recently, Costa served as CFO of GODIVA
  • Gretchen Koback Pursel joins Wella Company as “Global Chief People Officer.” She most recently held a similar position at Tiffany & Co.
  • Hugh Dineen joins Wella Company as president of global brands and global chief marketing officer. He was recently at MetLife, and Avon. Dineen serves on the board of Hostess Brands.

Wella Company is one of the world’s largest beauty products and haircoloring companies, comprised of a family of brands such as Wella Professionals, Clairol, OPI, Sebastian Professional, Nioxin and ghd. Other brands include Silvikrin and Vidal Sassoon.

History of Wella

Wella began in 1880, when Franz Ströher established a wig supplies business. The Wella brand debuted in 1924, inspired by the German word for waves. The company was owned by Procter & Gamble, and later Coty. In 2020, the company was established again as an independent company. With headquarters in Geneva, it has 6,000 employees in 100 countries.
