ALEXANDRIA, VA. – Today, the United States Patent and Trademark Office will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Lanham Act, the federal statute that established modern U.S. trademark law. On Tuesday, July 27, the USPTO will present an exciting virtual program commemorating the Lanham Act and how the Truman-era law has benefited the country.
The celebration will feature a screening of the Lanham Act documentary produced by the National Inventors Hall of Fame as well as a lineup of distinguished speakers, including:
- Gina Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of Commerce
- Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa
- Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware
- Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida
- Drew Hirshfeld, performing the functions and duties of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO
- David Gooder, Commissioner for Trademarks
