TEANECK, N.J. – Leica Camera, a German camera and optics company, will open a store in Chicago on April 30, 2026. The store sits in the Gold Coast district on Michigan Avenue. The location will include gallery exhibitions, Leica Akademie workshops, and space for visitors to view imaging technology. It marks the 20th anniversary of Leica retail, which began with the company’s first store in Japan.
Leica operates around 120 stores worldwide.The opening also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Leica Galleries. The galleries present roughly 150 exhibitions each year that feature photography from the present and the past.“

It features a restored Arts & Crafts façade with elements that reflect Chicago architecture from Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan. The interior includes retail space for Leica cameras, watches, home cinema products, sport optics, and accessories.The company also released a special Chicago Edition 17 camera for the opening.
