Sea & Ski Brand Resurfaces, Sort Of

The suntan lotion brand Sea & Ski has returned to the market, sort of.

To many, the special scent of Sea  & Ski reminds them of wonderful summers, and its absence from the market has saddened many BrandlandUSA readers, who have read about it on the History of Sea & Ski page on the website.

Happily (sort of) the brand, which has been off the market for the last few years, has now resurfaced as a lib balm, sold in counter packages. However, it is just petroleum jelly and some scent. We smelled it and it did not evoke the same nostalgic smell, though we may be missing something and are curious what others think.

The trademark is alive, renewed in 2009. The current version is made under license by Navajo Manufacturing of Denver; Navajo makes small portion health and beauty aids.

If anyone else has found it, please comment below on the smell. I don’t think it is it.

  1. I miss the smell of Sea&Ski from my childhood and teen years 1950s n 1960s . I so would live to smell that original smell again i would use it as body lotion if ever it was back. Just a hint of when times were good. That to me is the Ole Sea &Ski .. please notify me if its ever back I will order it over and over ..thank you!…

  2. Sea and ski in the orange bottle was my favorite, it left my skin soft and with a very dark tan. It seemed to help keep wrinkles at bay too plus the fragrance was awesome .if you bought it back it would fly off the shelves, I for one would invest I’m a Southern California gal and miss it terrably. Keep me posted when it returns. Thanks very much.Pam Obryant.

  3. My dad used to buy my mom a perfume that they made. Barbary Coast. I would love to find out if it is still made….or could be.

  4. I have used Sea and Sea since I was 16-17 years old. I loved the way it feeled on your skin. I am now 72 years old and go everywhere looking for Sea@Ski. When I was younger I used #6 and 8 and got the most glorious tan. At 72 People comment on my face not being wrinkled as theirs. Wish it would come back, or I could by a gross that’s stacked up somewhere. Love that Sea@Ski.

  5. This “renewed” version of Sea & Ski does not in any way look like the original. The original had a more distinct and somewhat upscale image (boating, yachting, skiing) while this new version looks like one of the cheap discount brands of petroluem jelly. Doesn’t really surprise me though because consumers have been slowly but steadily programmed to accept lower standards of products and packaging during the past twenty years. Those of us however who remember when products had a more distinct image are not likely to buy some new, cheap, repackaged version available now.
