New hires in the intellectual property legal field:
The Silicon Valley law firm Dechert LLP announced that attorney Nisha Patel Gupta has returned to the firm as an intellectual property partner based in Silicon Valley. The addition of Ms. Gupta strengthens the firm’s intellectual property capabilities in California and internationally. Ms. Gupta joins from Dechert client, LinkedIn. She had previously worked for the firm, and joins a number of attorneys that have also returned from companies, including Richard Pugh, Kathleen Mylod, Alon Goldberger, Sonia Gioseffi, Jon Burke, Steven Engel and Colin Sharpsmith.
The Green Firm of Pasadena, Calif. added Jonathan Weilbacher to their corporate law and intellectual property practice. He previously worked at Smith Steiner Vanderpool and Globalwide IP, where he focused on transactions consisting of complex intellectual property assets. He also served as in-house counsel for Boston Consulting Group. In Boston, he served on the board as Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. Weilbacher played college football for Washington State and San Diego State, and was a member of the 2015 Mountain West Championship team.
Crowell & Moring LLP has added a new IP team led by Paul Keller, which includes attorneys Michelle Wang and James Reed, all pictured at top. The team specializes in handling a broad range of disputes involving IP assets in the automotive, life sciences, and fintech sectors, and has experience with issues surrounding trade dress, copyright, and patents. Keller previously led the U.S. intellectual property disputes group at Allen & Overy and was head of Norton Rose Fulbright’s IP disputes group.
