Santa Fe Railroad Lives

Missing the old dome liners that ran from Los Angeles to Chicago on the Santa Fe? Here is one in Santa Fe, New Mexico, just off downtown, back in 2005. Happily, the Santa Fe brand is still alive.

  • The Santa Fe Southern Railroad operates the old Super Chief dome cars as part of their excursion trains in Santa Fe.
  • The main Santa Fe railroad still operates, though the name is BNSF, or Burlington Northern Santa Fe. We liked both of the names, separately, but are happy they have been preserved. We think its silly that everything has to be just initials! Why not spell it out occasionally.
  • Amtrak still operates the Southwest Chief.
